Morning everyone, my name is Ewan, and I will be leading your climb up Ben Vorlich today.
Before we set off, I want to run through a few safety points, so please listen carefully.
First of all, the weather: conditions at the summit can change within half an hour, so be prepared.
Even though it feels warm down here, you should all carry a waterproof jacket and an extra layer.
We will take the western path rather than the eastern one, because the eastern route is still icy.
The climb should take about four hours in total, with two proper rest stops along the way.
Right, moving on to equipment: please check now that your boots are firmly laced and comfortable.
Anyone who did not bring walking poles can borrow a pair from the kit store behind me.
If at any point you feel dizzy or exhausted, tell me immediately rather than pushing on in silence.
There is no shame in turning back; the mountain will still be here on another day.
One last thing before we start: we will regroup at the large cairn, which marks the halfway point.
Remember, we walk at the pace of the slowest person, so nobody gets left behind.
